17th round in the 1. SŽNL passed without surprises: The top three teams secured victories, while Ptuj’s team moved away from the bottom positions

While the men’s top-league pitches are quiet due to the international break, it’s a different story in the women’s 1. SŽNL. Last Sunday, we witnessed the 17th and at the same time the penultimate round of the regular season. The round passed without surprises, with the most joy seen in Ptuj, where the team celebrated a successful penalty shootout against Krim.

Ptuj’s Team Hits Form at the End of Regular Season in 1. SŽNL

Ljubljana hosted the lately well-performing Primorje at home and clinched a minimal victory. They triumphed 2:1 over the visitors from Ajdovščina. Ljubljana scored twice in the opening ten minutes, courtesy of Katja Turk and Nika Pintarič. The home team then calmed down a bit, and the visitors managed to reduce the deficit in the second half, with Julija Poplašen finding the net for the final score of 2:1. Ljubljana keeps up with Olimpija, while Primorje remains in a favorable position in the lower part of the table.

On Ptuj, Drava secured a further gap from the bottom two places on the ladder after the match against Krim, winning narrowly 1:0. The lone goal came from the penalty spot, converted by Ines Krajnc in the 52nd minute. Ptuj’s team now sits seventh, five points clear of eighth and an additional point from the bottom. Krim remains in the second-to-last position.

Olimpija traveled to Cerklje and secured a 3:0 victory. After 17 rounds, they still trail Mura by six points. Cerklje remain mid-table. Sara Makovec and Tara Knego scored in the first half, while young Maja Madon sealed the win in the second. Both teams are already looking ahead to the final phase of the season when the league splits into two parts. Olimpija will compete in the championship group, while Cerklje in the lower league.

Mura defended their lead against Olimpija with a victory over Radomlje. The home team’s goalkeeper, Maja Zajc, frustrated the Radomlje attackers with her saves. However, she couldn’t prevent Katarina Gadnik‘s own goal, deflecting a shot from Lea Dolinar, which turned out to be the only goal of the match.
