Albert Riera starts a new chapter in his war with Olimpija: “The day after the win against Maribor and the confirmation of the title, we sent the contract to the new coach!”

Even 1500 kilometres away from the Slovenian capital, Albert Riera cannot do without Olimpija. The Spanish expert, who left Celje not long ago to join Bordeaux, has once again “opened the front” with the Green-Whites’ management, among other things with a revelation that is resonating. Albert Riera claims that he was crossed out as coach of Olimpija long before the official confirmation of his reputation. The Spaniard revealed that the club, led by Adam Delius, sent the contract to the new coach or coach candidate for signature the day after the victory in the eternal derby with the Maribor and winning the championship!

“Olimpija fans need to understand that it was simply not possible to work with these people. So I was forced to leave. The fact that just one day after our victory against Maribor and the confirmation of the title, they sent the papers or the contract to the new coach is enough to say. A month and a half before the season ended and my contract expired. It says everything about the kind of people they are and who is to blame for us breaking up. Even though they wanted to present the public with the image that I was to blame,” pointed out Albert Riera for Sportklub and went on to accuse the Ljubljana club’s managers of “lying all the time“.

“The worst human trait is lying. And they lie whenever they speak in public to wash their faces. But the truth is that they don’t like their own fans, they have a bad relationship with the Stožice stadium managers, with the players, in fact with everyone they come into contact with. They don’t even respect the coaches. Joao Henriques was their best coach until three months ago, when they were already looking for his replacement behind his back. For them, players are not the club’s greatest asset, they are just business entities that they can use to make money. That’s all that matters to them. That’s why these people were not allowed by me to be near the first team last year. The players don’t trust them either. And that’s the secret of our success,“, Albert Riera pointed out, hinting between the lines why Olimpija is not doing so well this season or why its performance curve has started to drop drastically.

Riera: “That’s why I will keep fighting”

At the same time, Albert Riera admitted without hesitation that he wanted Adam Delius, Christian Dollinger, Igor Barišić and Goran Boromisa, whom he did not name but there were no doubts, to say goodbye to Olimpija as soon as possible.

“I am sure they will respond to what I say again, but I advise them to save it because they will be telling lies again. For myself, I want only one thing. This is a healthy and successful Olimpija because I love this club, which gave me the opportunity to become a coach. That is why I will continue to fight for people from Germany to go to Germany and people from Croatia to go to Croatia. So away from Olympia,” added the 41-year-old Mallorca expert firmly.
