Tabor keeps grinding, coach Radostin Aleksandrov refuses to give up: “It’s a long marathon and we’re only at the beginning”

Tabor has bounced back from their loss to Dekani in the opening match of the new season. In Sežana, they quickly realized that they needed to give even more than 100 percent if they wanted to achieve their main goal of the season—promotion to the Prva liga Telemach. The setback in the first round seems to have had the desired effect.

In their next five matches, Primorci recorded four victories and shared points with direct competitor Gorica. They demonstrated that they were better, faster, and of higher quality than their opponents, which contributed to them scoring 15 goals in six matches. They now sit at the top of the table with 13 points, though this does not guarantee that they will stay there.

The points difference between the first place and the eighth and ninth places is only 8 points, so the standings could change dramatically in the next round. This is something that Tabor’s coach, Radostin Aleksandrov, is aware of. After the recent victory over Beltinci, he spoke to the club’s website about the winning streak, the team, and hard work.

“I am satisfied with the team’s performance so far. We are a very young team that wants to progress from game to game—so far, the good performances are a result of collective effort—from every player on the field to everyone who helps us focus on our tasks on the pitch and supports us off the pitch,” said the Bulgarian strategist, who is only 32 years old. He acknowledges that the situation may not always be so rosy, so it is important to stay united.

“The atmosphere is very positive, and everyone is eager to work and improve. It won’t always be this positive; we must be aware of that. We need to stick together through good and bad times and be loyal to each other and to the club. This is the only way to grow and continue this good streak,” the Tabor coach stated, noting that there are many good individuals in the team, but no one should forget about the team effort.

“Everyone is playing exceptionally well, but it’s a team effort. We have many outstanding young players in the team, but if they think it’s about one or two individuals driving this good streak, that’s very misleading. Each of them—whether they play more or less—contributes to our current good run, and each must continue to work hard to maintain this good form. This is a long marathon, and we are only at the beginning,” concluded the Bulgarian.

Tabor will face NK Brinje Grosuplje in their next match, where Goran Marković‘s charges will certainly want to show their quality. Thus, we can expect an exciting encounter in the only Friday match of the 7th round of the 2.SNL, which will kick off at 7 PM.
