I am happy with my performance and the performance of the team. The summer was very busy for the Primorec with the search for a new club for his protégé. Žan Vipotnik was targeted by many clubs from all over the world, but in the end he chose Bordeaux. But after the initial problems, many asked: did the young man make a mistake by moving to Ligue 2? Saša Župan is convinced that this is not the case.

“Even when it was the hardest, even when everything seemed to be conspiring against Jean, I didn’t doubt it for a minute. I was sure that sooner or later he would reach the level we saw him at in Maribor. I know how it works. I know what a professional he is. That’s why I wasn’t surprised when I watched him in the last Bordeaux game. Time always has a way of doing things, time always puts things in their place,” emphasised Saša Župan, who also believes that some of the pointed comments have made his protégé even stronger.

“Žan Vipotnik may be a young boy, but he has seen a lot in his career. Let’s not forget that he had to get through 2. SNL to get to where it is at the moment. All this was a school that made him even stronger. That’s why it didn’t throw him off track for a single millimetre. I have spoken to him many times and I could see that nothing had got to him. He worked hard, and when you work hard and diligently, it comes back to you sooner or later in football,” continued Saša Župan, who has no doubt that the excellent performance against Annecy was only the first act of the striker’s success story in France.

“Žan is a top striker, but even such a good footballer needs time to get used to his new surroundings. The boy went abroad for the first time in his career, not even with the best results at the club. So it is logical that it was chased for a while. But now I am convinced that he will get better from game to game. The best is yet to come,” Saša Župan emphasised for our website.
